Reunion Weekend 2024

The 2024 Kanawaha Alumni Association reunion took place May 24 and 25. The weekend of festivities included a picnic on the football field, parade, annual business meeting and auction, dinner, and plenty of time to catch up with old friends.


The theme of the weekend was "They Answered the Call" and was dedicated to the Burnsville Volunteer Fire Department.


During the business meeting KAA President April Ramsey Boyce presented Alumnus of the Year awards to Gary Crutchfield (Class of 1968) a Sherri Weidemoyer Brown (Class of 1981). Charlene Blake received the Heart of a Bruin award. William Steel (Class of 1950) and Marge Burke (Class of 1949) were recognized as the oldest alumni present.


Several Burnsville-area seniors who were graduating from Braxton County High School were inducted into the KAA and also received scholarships. They included Karl Boyce, Kaden Kennen, Haley Morris, Erica Nicholson, William Burkowski, and Paxton Conley.


An auction was held to raise monies for the KAA. Special thanks to Terry Vankirk (and Justin and Carter) for their assistance with the auction.


Following the business meeting, a baked steak dinner was served.
